Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 9 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Two years of cardiology, tele, VAD experience; Minimum two years RN experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Vents, drips, and drains experience - Critical thinking skills - Patient assessment skills Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care. Care is based on nursing theory and research for a designated group of patients and their significant others. Delivers patient care through the application of the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills to patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning for hospital discharge. Educates patients and caregivers, anticipating their needs and readiness to learn about their plan of care and health promotion. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Manages assignments within the care delivery model and efficiently allocates resources. Models a patient-centered care approach through various actions, including admissions, bedside reports, and purposeful rounding. Considers the patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patient perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and families with concerns when needed. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions. Supports staff in using evidence-based practices to improve patient understanding of care. Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care while identifying opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to maintaining quality and safety. Implements process improvement strategies based on evidence-based practices. Engages in formal and informal peer reviews to improve care quality. Collaborates with teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and research studies. Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures. Identifies and mitigates high-risk behaviors to provide a safe environment for patients.
