Electrical professionals contribute to power systems design, including duct bank modeling, cable tray modeling, grounding, lighting, and other electrical systems supporting advanced power generation facilities. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high?quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring general knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry?standard design tools, such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools. For lighting design, experience with AGI32 is preferred to support accurate modeling and illumination calculations across APG facilities.The Team Black & Veatch Operations develops, deploys, and maintains global resources and capabilities that guide execution and process excellence across the organization. The foundation of Black & Veatch Operations provides the ability to move where your skills are needed and allows for a collaborative and innovative culture offering greater challenges and career development opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesSupports engineering teams under general supervisionPerforms technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practicesUses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverablesBegins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering techniciansStay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and proceduresApply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverablesDemonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiativesUse and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and proceduresCreate and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputsPerform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checksCoordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferencesSupport internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and driversProactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processesPreferred QualificationsDiploma or Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.Minimum Qualifications Typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
