Location: Glenwood Springs, CO Project Duration: 20 weeks

Shift: 4-10 hours with weekend/call rotation

Pay Rate: $57-$61/hr

Job Description

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures for both inpatient and outpatient populations. The technologist operates ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images, assists physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures, and ensures safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care. The role requires the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
• Conduct examinations in multiple specialty areas, including general ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, breast imaging, small parts imaging, and first trimester obstetrical (OB) ultrasound.
• Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the examination process and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Obtain and document accurate patient histories and relevant clinical information.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images and ensure proper image documentation and archiving.
• Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures, including biopsies and other interventional procedures, while maintaining sterile technique.
• Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and perform routine quality assurance checks.
• Adhere to departmental policies, infection control standards, and patient confidentiality requirements.
• Participate in on-call, weekend, holiday, or rotating shifts as required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide exceptional patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent ultrasound experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current registration through one of the following:
• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT(S)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing breast imaging and vascular studies.
• Experience assisting with ultrasound-guided biopsies and other interventional procedures.
• Experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Ability to adapt quickly to varying patient populations and clinical environments.
