Mechanical Engineer I: 0-3 years of experience DB Engineering (DB), an employee-owned company, is growing! Work Location Hybrid-Remote and Client Site, Arlington, VA area Job Responsibilities – What You’ll Do Consistently deliver high-quality work, demonstrating ownership/accountability for assigned projects and deadlines, with management oversight Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding client needs, contributing to technical solutions and delivering exceptional services Perform facility condition assessments incorporating mechanical engineering fundamentals and code compliance, and Smart building design principles to: Gather, interpret, and visualize/analyze HVAC environment data using PowerBI, Tableau, or similar Business Intelligence software; demonstrate findings including concerns and opportunities for improvement to clients and project teams; and make recommendations for system optimization, efficiency and cost savings based on data findings. Develop naming convention standards for data aggregation efforts within individual projects. Perform root cause analysis for HVAC environments to identify fault cost/savings calculations for additional system optimization, operation and efficiency Write, review and evaluate sequence of operation using Building Management Systems (BMS) Controls Participate in peer review for new and existing projects Proactively anticipate client needs, identify risks to project success, and demonstrate a solution-oriented approach to challenging situations within the client environment Demonstrate excellent time management, communication, collaboration and documentation skills Demonstrate ownership and accountability of relevant project scope while also contributing to action plan development with clients and co-workers Commit to ongoing learning relative to mechanical engineering industry trends, codes, and best practices Additional contributions as assigned Education and Licensure Requirements – What You Have Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience and training Minimum Qualifications – What You’ll Bring Professionalism and a willingness to commit to DB’s company values: Curiosity , a commitment to on-going learning and development relative to your skills, industry trends, codes and best practices Ownership , willingness to be accountable for individual and team results Drive , consistently delivering high-quality work Communication , you have excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients and co-workers that are professional and respectful Emotional Intelligence, you have well-developed social skills, demonstrating empathy, self-awareness, professionalism during stressful and challenging situations, and are highly motivated to succeed. Demonstrate a basic level of Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals, industry Code and data analytics knowledge proficiency Strong people skills, with the ability to build and maintain ongoing client relationships and work as part of an interdisciplinary team Drive to successfully demonstrate problem-solving skills while multitasking and meeting scheduled deadlines Good time management and adaptability skills Ability to work independently with supervision Commitment to ongoing learning and skill development Proficiency with Excel (pivot charts, data normalization, basic calculations, charts/graphs) Ability to work regular business hours Monday through Friday, spend 3-5 days per week at the client site or working remotely Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship Preferred or Bonus Qualifications – What Makes You Stand Out Up to 3 years of experience in HVAC mechanical engineering design, commissioning, data analytics, and Root Cause Analysis Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls experience Experience using data analytics and data analyzation tools including PowerBI, Tableau, or similar Business Intelligence software Familiarity and experience with SMART building design initiatives Compensation – What DB Engineering Offers Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 determined by education, skills, experience and certifications Classification: non-exempt Bonus: Annual bonus package includes eligibility for a company-wide performance-based bonus as well as an individual contribution bonus.
