JP’s Pastry is a dedicated gluten-free bakery offering baked goods, breads, desserts, and prepared meals. Our retail team helps customers find food they love while maintaining a welcoming, clean, and well-stocked store.

Position summary

The Store Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for the day-to-day operation of an assigned retail store. This position works alongside Retail Associates, sets the standard for customer service, keeps products available and presented well, and follows through on daily priorities. The Store Lead serves as the main point of contact between the store team and management.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, assist with purchases, and provide friendly, knowledgeable service.
• Lead daily workflow; assign tasks, communicate priorities, and verify that work is completed accurately and on time.
• Keep shelves, displays, refrigerators, and freezers stocked throughout the day; actively address empty displays and low inventory.
• Receive deliveries, verify quantities and condition, promptly store products, and communicate shortages, damage, or discrepancies.
• Monitor inventory, complete counts, submit replenishment orders, rotate products by date, and document waste and inventory adjustments under company procedures.
• Train and coach associates on customer service, product knowledge, Square POS, stocking, cleaning, and opening and closing procedures.
• Model professional conduct, punctuality, teamwork, and productive use of scheduled work time; address concerns promptly and escalate recurring issues to management.
• Complete opening and closing checklists, cash counts, register reconciliation, and store security procedures as assigned.
• Process transactions accurately and handle refunds, discounts, and customer concerns within assigned authority.
• Support sales by recommending relevant products and explaining current promotions and the loyalty program accurately.
• Follow company food safety, sanitation, product labeling, storage, and temperature-monitoring procedures; report equipment problems promptly.
• Use approved labels and product information to answer ingredient and dietary questions; never guess about allergens or make unsupported safety guarantees.
• Maintain a clean, organized sales floor, checkout area, storage area, and restroom; ensure cleaning duties are shared and completed.
• Support scheduling and coverage coordination as assigned; notify management promptly of staffing gaps.
• Communicate customer feedback, sales opportunities, product needs, attendance concerns, and operational issues to management.
• Perform other related retail duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Retail, customer service, or food-service experience; prior keyholder, shift lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to direct daily work respectfully, give clear feedback, and follow through on expectations.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, and basic math skills.
• Comfort using a POS system and learning inventory procedures; Square experience is helpful.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize during busy periods, and use slower periods productively.
• Reliable attendance and availability for the assigned schedule, including weekends and holiday periods as needed.
• Willingness to learn gluten-free products, ingredient information, and safe food-handling procedures.

Working conditions

The role involves extended standing and walking; bending, reaching, stocking, cleaning, and moving product cases; and working around refrigerated and frozen products.
