Comprehensive Care Licensed Vocational Nurse Correctional Health ServicesSalary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.Premium Pay: In addition to the hourly salary, eligible applicants may receive premium pay for the items listed below.Bilingual pay: Qualified employees who meet the criteria found shall receive an additional seventy $0.70 cents per hour for all hours paid.Night Shift Differential pay: Employees assigned to a night shift shall be paid a night shift differential for each hour actually worked on the assigned night shift. One is for the adult inmates and the other is for the juveniles. The CHS program provides medical, dental, nursing, infection control, health education, and pharmaceutical services at a community standard of care and provides mental health services including 24-hour emergency triage and crisis intervention, suicide prevention, treatment beds, individual and group therapy, substance use counseling, medication assessment and discharge planning to all adult inmates in the County's five (5) correctional facilities. The Juvenile Health Services program has two clinics — Juvenile Hall Health Clinic and Orangewood Family Health Clinic.This Comprehensive Care Licensed Vocational Nurse (CCLVN) position is in the Adult Correctional Health Services division, which is responsible for basic and emergency medical services for approximately 6,000 inmates per day, and over 60,000 inmates per year. The CCLVN responsibilities include but are not limited to:Administration of regular and PRN (Pro Re Nata) medicationUse of electronic health records (EHR) to accurately enter and document patient data, administer medications including insulinPrepare and collect lab specimens, including blood, urine, saliva, stool and nasal/pharyngeal samplesPerform EKG (electrocardiogram), visual acuity, vital signs, PPD (tuberculosis test) placement, blood glucose testing, basic wound care, ambulatory clinic procedures and screening examsPerform skills of an emergency first responderRecognize normal vs. abnormal findings and report such findings to on duty registered nursesConduct and maintain inventory, adequate stock of medication, and supplies for assigned work areaMaintain assigned work area daily and ensure that work areas are inspection ready at all timesAssist onsite and telemedicine/telepsychiatry providersParticipate in conferences, committee meetings, staff development and education programs to increase or maintain professional competencyMay perform other job-related duties as needed*The initial vacancies will be for the night shiftCHS is a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation. Incumbents must be able to work days, weekends, evenings or night shifts, and holidays. Nursing staff work six (6), twelve (12) hour shifts, and one eight (8) hour shift per two (2) week pay period. Background screening includes; completing of a Personal History Form, interview with a background investigator, fingerprinting and may include a polygraph test.
