This model strengthens HGS’s continuum of care and enhances our ability to serve children, youth, and families.What You’ll DoAs a Registered Nurse, you’ll provide direct nursing services to children and youth in accordance with New York State licensure and agency policies. You’ll be responsible for assessments, medication management, health screenings, and coordination of care across multiple programs. This role is hands-on and collaborative, requiring strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to care.You’ll work closely with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure the health and well-being of each child. Your work will support both immediate medical needs and long-term wellness, contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment.What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse who is passionate about working with children and families. You bring clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and a trauma-informed approach to care. You’re organized, responsive, and committed to maintaining high standards of practice in a dynamic setting.Qualifications and Preferred ExperienceCurrent New York State licensure/registration as a Professional Registered NurseMinimum 1 year of general nursing experienceExperience with children, emotionally disturbed individuals, or in pediatric/mental health nursing preferredCurrent CPR certificationValid New York State driver’s licenseKey Skills and AttributesConfident in setting healthy boundaries and responding to challenging behavior with care and consistency.Skilled at building strong, respectful connections with youth, families, and coworkers.Open to learning and able to complete required trainings like Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid.Detail-oriented, dependable, and with strong documentation and clinical record-keeping skills.Brings patience, resilience, and emotional steadiness to the work.Proficient in the Nursing Process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluationKnowledge of medications, including purpose, side effects, and contraindicationsFamiliarity with trauma-informed care and child developmentComfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary teamAbility to supervise and support Licensed Practical NursesFlexibility to assume on-call and supervisory duties as neededWhy Work with Us?We believe caring for our staff is just as important as caring for our clients.
