CHIEF Engineer

Chief EngineerThe Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring proper operations, maintenance, service, and repair of all equipment.Essential FunctionsEnsure that the Preventative Maintenance program is implemented and administered according to MCR standards.Evaluate and spot check the work of all staff and contractors or outside laborers.Handle guestroom maintenance requests in a timely manner.Maintain files of and be familiar with all operational manuals and warranty agreements for equipment.Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause; determine emergency status and report to Guest Services and/or the General Manager with findings.Manage energy expenses and continually work towards energy conservation.Ensure that pool and spa follow area health codes.Maintain a key control system and ensure it is adhered to.Always comply with MCR standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.Train and supervise the Engineering staff and coordinate all scheduling.Respond to emergency situations using information contained in Material Safety Data sheets.Keep Material Safety Data sheets current and easily available (with Housekeeping Manager).Coordinate all inspections of the fire safety systems, including extinguishers, smoke alarms, etc., to maintain proper safety standards.Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service oriented manner.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsMust have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.Verbal and written communication skills.Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.Reasoning abilities are always utilized.Basic maintenance skills required.Proficient in use of hand tools, power tools, test equipment.Valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (property specific).Must be proficient in Windows operating systems, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.Must have a desire to serve all guests.Must be 18 years of age or older to perform this job.Preferred QualificationsTechnical, Trade or Vocational school degree.Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).2 years of work-related experienceCarry all equipment (e.g., keys, phones, pager, tools, radio) to maintain preparedness to always carry out work tasks.Experience in a hotel, apartment, or a related fieldOur CompanyMCR is the 3rd-largest hotel owner-operator in the United States.Founded in 2006, our company has offices in New York City, Dallas, Chicago, and Richmond, Virginia.MCR has a $5.0 billion portfolio of 148 premium-branded hotels containing more than 22,000 guestrooms across 37 states and 106 cities.MCR has more than 7,000 team members across the country and operates hotels under 9 Marriott brands, 8 Hilton brands and a number of unflagged independent hotels.MCR was named one of Fast Company's 10 Most Innovative Travel Companies of 2020.MCR is a three-time recipient of the Marriott Partnership Circle Award, the highest honor Marriott presents to its owner and franchise partners, and a recipient of the Hilton Legacy Award for Top Performer.For the TWA Hotel at New York's JFK Airport, MCR won the Development of the Year (Full Service) Award at The Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), the Urban Land Institute New York Excellence in Hotel Development Award and the American Institute of Architects national Architecture Award, the highest honor given by the AIA.What we offer/What's in it for you?Hotel DiscountsWeekly PayPaid Time OffRetirement OptionsReferral bonusesCareer advancement & upward mobilityHealth, Dental, Vision Insurance- available after 30 days of employment for full-time team members
