POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Security and Safety serves as the operational leader for security services throughout St. John's Community Health (SJCH). Executes an enterprise-wide site rounding program, visiting all 28 facilities at least two times per month to evaluate security risks, support staff, and ensure consistent implementation of security protocols. This position is responsible for coordinating security operations, overseeing contracted security vendors, leading CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention programs, conducting security site assessments, and promoting a patient-centered, concierge-style approach to safety and security services. Key performance expectations are training & education of violence prevention and customer service satisfaction met 90%, site rounding schedule, security audits, corrective actions and security guard performance requirements met 95% and incident response, workplace violence prevention investigations, and emergency preparedness drills met 100%. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Security Operations Management Coordinate daily security operations across all SJCH locations. Serve as the Facilities Department subject matter expert for security-related matters. Conduct routine site visits and security assessments toidentifyvulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement. Evaluate physical security measures, access control systems, surveillance systems, incident response procedures, and staffing coverage. Develop and implement corrective action plans for identified security concerns. Collaborate with regional and site leadershipregardingsecurity needs and operational improvements. Monitor compliance with SJCH policies, procedures, and security standards. Participate in emergency response activities, disaster preparedness initiatives, and safety programs. 2. CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Program Leadership Serve as the primary coordinator for CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention programs throughout SJCH. Lead implementation of CPI principles emphasizing: Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security Crisis prevention Trauma-informed intervention Respectful communication Early intervention techniques Supportive crisis management Coordinate training schedules and certification tracking. Conduct field observations to ensure CPI principles are consistently applied. Coach security personnel and site leadership on effective de-escalation practices. Assess security incidents and provide recommendations for improvement using CPI methodologies. Support workplace violence prevention initiatives through training and education. Maintain trainingcompliancedocumentation and reporting. 3. Security Vendor Management Serve as the primary liaison between SJCH and contracted security vendors. Monitor staffing levels, attendance, coverage, and service quality. Verify compliance with contractual obligations and SJCH expectations. Ensure vendor personnelmaintainrequired training certifications. Validate participation in CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and de-escalation training programs. Participate in security contract reviews and vendor evaluations. Prepare reportsregardingvendor performance metrics and service outcomes. 4. Patient Experience and Concierge Security Services Promote a concierge-style security model throughout SJCH. Ensure security personnel serve as ambassadors of the SJCH mission and values. Foster a culture of compassion, professionalism, and service excellence. Support positivepatient,visitor, and employee experiences through proactive engagement. Coach security personnel in customer service, hospitality, and professional communication techniques. Reinforce trauma-informed approaches that promote dignity and respect. Assistin resolving conflicts, complaints, and challenging interactions through collaborative problem-solving. Support SJCH's commitment to creating safe and welcoming healthcare environments. 5. Incident Management, Compliance, and Investigations Review and evaluate security incident reports for accuracy and completeness. Conduct fact-finding activities and security-related investigations as assigned. Track trends involving workplace violence, disruptive behavior, security concerns, and safety incidents. Prepare reports, recommendations, and corrective action plans. Assistwith regulatory, accreditation, and insurance-related requirements. Ensure documentation meets SJCH standards and reporting requirements. Coordinate follow-up actions resulting from security incidents and investigations. Participate in multidisciplinary response teams asrequired. 6. Training, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement Develop andmaintainsecurity performance dashboards and metrics. Monitor security trends and recommend program improvements. Conduct security program assessments and operational reviews. Develop educational programs and awareness initiatives for SJCH staff. Support ongoing improvement of security policies, procedures, and best practices. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual security reports. Analyze training effectiveness and operational performance indicators. Recommend enhancements to security technology, staffing models, and operational processes. 7. Key Performance Targets: Category Target Site Rounding & Presence Visit all 28+ sites twice per month (56+ visits/month); complete 95%+ of scheduled rounds. Security Audits Complete quarterly security assessments for 100% of sites; achieve 95%+ compliance score. Respond to high-priority incidents within established standards; investigate 100% of significant incidents. Corrective Actions Close 95% of identified corrective actions within target deadlines. Workplace Violence Prevention Investigate 100% of workplace violence reports; reduce repeat incidents by 10% annually. Maintain year-over-year reduction in security-related injuries and safety events. Complete annual drills and emergency exercises at 100% of sites; maintain current emergency plans. Training & Education Achieve 90%+ staff completion of required safety and violence-prevention training. Security guard vendor meets 95%+ staffing and performance requirements.
