Overview

This position will work as an Orthopedic provider on-site during weekday hours for the Children's Mercy Orthopedic Injury Clinic locations. APPs will earn an $8 hourly differential for your flexibility and expertise across multiple locations.

The Orthopedic Injury Clinic provides rapid, convenient access for children and adolescents with minor musculoskeletal injuries. The Orthopedic Injury Clinic PNP/Physician Assistant performs a problem-specific health assessment with a major focus on injuries such as fractures, muscle and ligament sprains/strains, minor dislocations, and sports-related injuries. Treatment pathways employed in this role include casting, splinting, bracing, and referral to rehabilitative services as well as follow-up care for the injury as needed. This PNP/Physician Assistant will be expected to work collaboratively with the Orthopedic physician providers when consultation is needed, including surgical referral.

Advanced Practice Provider II (APP-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APP II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APP-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.

- Clinical Practice: proficiently provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.

- Professional Leadership: advances the practice of nursing by inspiring others to positively impact the care of children and families in our community.

- Evidenced-based Practice/QI/Research Inquiry: improves patient/family outcomes by utilizing evidence to translate science to practice.

- Organizational Development: influences organizational policy in order to achieve and sustain practice improvements and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree and 1-2 years pediatric experience, required, DNP preferred for APRNs but not required.
• APRNs must have RN compact license in their primary residency state or if they do not reside in a compact state both MO and KS single state RN license.
• APRNs must have MO and KS APRN licensure.
• PAs must have MO and KS PA licensure.
• National Board Certification required for state licensure.
• APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire.
• Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire.
• Primary Care PNP will be required: Candidates will have two years to be enrolled in a program and five years to complete the program.
