Job Description:

The Registered Nurse on the PCU is responsible for providing comprehensive care to adult patients with a range of diagnoses. This role involves working closely with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality care is delivered within a dynamic and challenging environment.

Responsibilities:

• Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and IV starts
• Blood product administration and drain/tube management
• Indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management
• Insulin drips management and continuous bladder irrigation
• Chest tube maintenance and effective communication
• Perform thorough physical assessments and demonstrate clinical judgment
• Maintain a professional bedside manner and adapt to team requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of PCU RN experience; Telemetry experience preferred
• BLS, ACLS certifications required
• Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Comfortable with task swapping and collaborative nursing models
• Experience with and ability to float to ICU or other units as needed

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
