Key Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility and accountability for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for assigned patients using age-specific criteria
• Perform cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips and recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms
• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access, as well as post-operative open-heart care
• Manage chest tubes, pericardial pacing wires, temporary pacers (pericardial and transcutaneous), and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems
• Apply advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities in clinical decision-making
• Assist in directing and teaching non-RN staff, including LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries; float to all units within scope of practice and skill set as required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Post-operative open-heart care experience required
• Chest tube and other drain management experience required
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification required
• Active Ohio RN license or Compact RN license (verified via Nursys) required
• Current skills checklist (within the past year) pertinent to PCU specialty required
• Must live more than 45 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard travel rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Critical care experience highly preferred
• Experience with MediTech EMR
• Familiarity with a Navy Blue dress code environment and unit-based float expectations
