Duties During their careers, special agents carry out assignments in investigations and protection, often at multiple duty stations across the U.S. and abroad. Responsibilities include: Providing protection for various protectees. Conducting criminal investigations related to financial obligations of the United States. Planning and implementing security for National Special Security Events. We seek talented individuals with the background to succeed as a special agent in the U.S. Secret Service. Join our elite team and serve your country with honor and pride. Requirements U.S. citizenship required. Valid driver's license. Ability to carry and use a firearm; firearm proficiency mandatory. Age between 21 and 37 at application, with exceptions for prior federal law enforcement service or veteran's preference. Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance. Visual acuity of 20/100 binocular, corrected to 20/20 in each eye. Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in each ear at specified frequencies. Pre-employment drug testing and ongoing random testing. Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD. Willingness to accept assignments nationwide and abroad. Registration with the Selective Service System or exemption, if applicable.
