Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience; preferred experience in Labor and Delivery License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification; ACLS; NRP Must-Have: - Must be able to circulate for C-sections - Must be able to triage for OB - Epic experience required Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports and is accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers. Assesses the developmental level of the patient and factors affecting their ability to learn. Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care. Participates in discussions with members of the interdisciplinary team regarding patient care evaluation. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems. Performs bedside point of care testing as required for patient care. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues. Develops goals to promote professional growth. Achieves goals and objectives within the identified timeframe or renegotiates with the supervisor. Participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems. Participates in promoting cost-effective care. Provides feedback to co-workers. Aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment. Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful information prior to communication to others. Anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs. Collaborates with the patient and family to prepare or update the plan of care. Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. Reads journals that contain studies or articles applicable to practice. Brings ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.
