TITLE: Project Director

SUPERVISOR: Reports to the Pride of the Glens Leadership Team, with a designated Leadership Team representative serving as the primary liaison for supervision, support, and communication.

SUPERVISES: Project Coordinator and additional staff as hired

GENERAL: Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC) dba Pride of the Glens is dedicated to fostering a healthy and vibrant nonprofit sector in Colorado by enhancing the effective and efficient use of community resources. Our values of partnership, respect, accountability, innovation, and learning guide our work. We provide comprehensive fiscal sponsor services to emerging and transitioning charitable groups ("Project") serving their communities in areas as varied as education, arts, human services, and public health.

The Pride of the Glens is a resident-led coalition improving the quality of life in Dacono and surrounding areas. We work to build a sense of community, increase neighborhood leadership capacity, and spur collective action through advocacy and projects that improve the quality of life for residents in the Glens of Dacono. We are guided by the values of community, communication, fun, inclusivity, service, peace and commitment.

The Pride of the Glens Community Center offers community resources and navigation services, adult and youth education, and enrichment and wellness programming for all ages, Pride of the Glens also supports resident leaders to do projects and advocacy that beautify the neighborhood, build community relationships, and improve the neighborhood. Projects include improving parks and gathering spaces, neighborhood clean-ups, transportation and walkability, and youth and family clubs, youth volunteer events and youth soccer programming.

Pride of the Glens is a growing community-based organization. Responsibilities may evolve over time and may be shared across staff positions depending on organizational needs, funding, staffing structure, and staff capacity.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Director provides overall organizational leadership, strategic coordination, fundraising support, staff supervision, and community engagement support for Pride of the Glens. The Director works collaboratively with residents, volunteers, staff, and the Leadership Team to strengthen the organization's sustainability, programs, partnerships, and resident leadership capacity.

The Project Director provides leadership and supervision for organizational staff, volunteers, and community initiatives, while supporting coordination of day-to-day programs and operations in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.

The position is 20 – 30 hours per week.

This role is in person; the office is at the Community Center in Dacono, Colorado.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Governance
    • Serves as liaison with fiscal sponsor, Colorado Nonprofit Development Center
    • Convenes and facilitates monthly leadership team meetings for organizational decision-making
    • Adheres to and helps support the application of organizational bylaws by leaders and members
  • Community engagement and leader recruitment
    • Builds relationships with residents and community stakeholders to identify priorities, strengthen participation, recruit volunteers and leaders, and support resident-led initiatives. Maintains a database of community members' priorities, skills and capacities, and connects people to organizational activities
    • With the Program Coordinator, recruits community residents to lead and participate in organizational projects and committees, including recruiting leadership team members to ensure a strong leadership team that reflects the neighborhood's diversity
  • Leadership Development
    • Develops and hosts community leadership training
    • Identifies and partners with other organizations to increase leadership development opportunities for Dacono residents
    • Tracks leadership development goals and opportunities for organizational volunteers and members
  • Communications
    • Provides updates to the organizational leaders, volunteers, and at-large community through public meetings, town halls, social media, email, phone calls, and newsletters.
    • Oversees organizational communications and outreach efforts.
  • Partnership development
    • Identifies organizations and develops partnerships with organizations and individuals who have shared values and activities to improve quality of life in Dacono
  • Program management
    • Develops annual plan with input from community
    • Supports resident leaders, volunteers, and program coordinators in planning and implementing community projects, events, and activities by helping connect them to training, materials, resources, partnerships, and organizational support.
    • Provides oversight and support for community center operations and programming
  • Evaluates program effectiveness
    • Oversees evaluation and reporting systems to support organizational learning and grant compliance.
    • Maintains records of attendance
    • Supports program evaluation and reporting activities.
  • Grant management / Fundraising
    • With the support of a grant writer, helps prepare and submit grants.
    • Helps identify funding opportunities and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and funders.
    • Seeks donations from businesses and individuals
    • Tracks and complies with donor requirements for all donations
    • Fulfills all grant and donor obligations in a timely way
    • Supports with preparing grant reports
    • Leverages community events and opportunities like CO Gives Day to fundraise
  • Staff and volunteer supervision
    • Provides supervision to volunteers and staff
    • Creates job descriptions and plans for volunteers and staff
    • Offers training and on-boarding to volunteers and staff
    • Conducts regular check-ins with volunteers and staff to support their success

OTHER DUTIES REQUIRED OF ALL STAFF:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years of experience conducting community engagement to recruit and retain community participants in activities and as volunteers
  • Spanish-English bilingual skills strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings to ensure equitable audience participation and achieving meeting goals
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Microsoft Office and Google Drive successfully
  • Can work some evenings and weekends
  • Strong listening and interviewing skills with the ability to see the potential in all people
  • Commitment to social justice and equity
  • Experience working in communities of color with sensitivity of distinct needs of diverse community members including Latinos, elderly, youth.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse audiences
  • Detail oriented and able to take clear notes of conversations
  • Passionate and motivated to improve health and quality of life in Dacono
  • Creates positive relationships with diverse audience, a relationship builder
  • Enthusiasm for engaging community members and encouraging participation and leadership.
  • Ability to be very organized with agendas, paperwork, and materials
  • Professional behavior even during times of stress
  • Flexibility to changing circumstances of the community
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License and a good driving record.
  • Clean background check / Background check will be conducted.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States
  • Ability to move tables, materials, supplies, and event equipment as needed for community activities.
  • As a growing community-based organization, responsibilities may evolve over time based on organizational priorities, funding, staffing structure, and community needs.

Helpful but not required:

  • Working knowledge of the Carbon Valley area
