Phlebotomist

Location: Washington, DC | Schedule: Full-time contract, on-site, Monday-Friday 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services provider in Washington, DC is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract assignment with strong potential to convert to a permanent role. This position plays a key part in ensuring accurate, safe, and efficient specimen collection for patients across all age groups. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance and decontamination data Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport, storing them at required temperatures and following protocols to maintain specimen integrity Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Update patient information and troubleshoot workflow issues, offering recommendations as needed Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required 5+ years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum of 1 year of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Comfortable performing hard sticks Requires geriatric experience Requires pediatrics to geriatrics experience Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This 3-month contract position offers potential for a permanent placement, with benefits available during the assignment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
