Principal Program Manager (R&D)

A pharmaceutical company based in San Diego, CA is seeking a Principal level Program Manager to join their team. You will serve as the critical bridge between our IT teams and R&D business stakeholders. In this dynamic role, you'll orchestrate the development and delivery of data programs, projects, and products that directly impact our ability to reach patients with few treatment options. You will lead cross-functional technology initiatives while providing IT product ownership, project management, and agile leadership across multiple teams. This role combines technical program/project management with strategic planning, product vision, and agile methodologies to maximize the value of our IT R&D products and deliver complex technology solutions.


You will manage feature backlogs, coordinate cross-functional dependencies, and facilitate agile ceremonies that keep our data solutions moving forward efficiently. This position requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to navigate diverse perspectives while maintaining focus on urgent deliverables. By ensuring our R&D data platforms evolve to meet business needs, you'll play a vital role in our mission to discover, develop, and deliver innovative therapies that transform patients' lives. Required Skills & Experience
• Expert in communication and organization
• Adept in related software - e.g. Jira, Confluence, Service-Now, PowerPoint, Gantt charts,
• Adept in relevant Scientific Software configuration i.e. Benchling, Core LIMS
• Expert navigating diverse perspectives, personalities and urgent deliverables
• Elicit and translate user requirements into Functional Specs for Engineering
• IT development experience - e.g. Agile processes, ideally related to data platforms and/or engineering


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Product Owner Certified
• ScrumMaster Certified
• Scientific Educational Background (i.e. Biochemistry)
