Packaging Production Artist

POSITION OVERVIEW Our client, a national manufacturer and distributor of packaged consumer goods, is seeking a skilled, detail-driven Packaging Production Artist to convert approved packaging concepts into accurate, print-ready production files across multiple brands and product lines. Working closely with the Senior Packaging Designer and Project Managers, this person will ensure packaging artwork stays consistent, compliant, and aligned with current brand guidelines. This role suits a technically skilled, detail-oriented production professional with strong expertise in packaging production, prepress, mechanical file setup, and print processes across various packaging formats. A core responsibility is supporting an active rebrand and maintaining more than 50 product lines, keeping packaging and labeling assets accurate and current. The ideal candidate values precision, quality, and organization; communicates clearly; juggles multiple projects and deadlines with ease; asks questions when specs are unclear; and looks for ways to improve consistency across packaging systems and product families. JOB DUTIES Produce accurate, high-quality, print-ready packaging files and mechanicals from approved designs, ensuring every output meets production specs and brand standards. Build and maintain dielines, layouts, and production artwork across various packaging formats, including labels, cartons, bags, pouches, shrink sleeves, and corrugated packaging. Apply strong prepress knowledge, including color separations, trapping, bleed, resolution, and file organization. Collaborate with the Senior Packaging Designer and Project Managers to execute approved creative work with precision and consistency. Prepare and deliver press-ready files to printers and production partners. Maintain version control and accurately execute artwork revisions across multiple SKUs, product lines, and packaging updates. Work with printers, manufacturers, and internal teams to troubleshoot production issues and ensure quality execution. Ensure all packaging meets technical, regulatory, and brand compliance standards. Carefully review artwork and identify opportunities to strengthen consistency across packaging, labeling, and related brand assets. Keep file structures and production archives organized. Develop production proofs and mockups to validate artwork before manufacturing. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail. Track time against budget and provide regular progress updates on rebrand completion. Consistently meet or exceed project deadlines while delivering dependable, production-ready artwork. Stay current on printing technologies, materials, packaging regulations, and production best practices. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related field. 3-6+ years of experience in packaging production, prepress, or production art. Strong portfolio showcasing packaging production and execution expertise. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Acrobat. Solid understanding of dielines, mechanical builds, and print production processes. Experience producing print-ready files across multiple packaging formats. Working knowledge of color management, Pantone systems, trapping, bleed, and print specifications. Experience with regulated packaging and labeling requirements is a plus. Familiarity with flexographic, offset, digital, and other commercial printing processes. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining consistency and quality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven track record of delivering reliable, high-quality work on schedule. PREFERRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE Background in agricultural, horticultural, turf, lawn care, or other green-industry product categories. Familiarity with EPA-regulated products, state registration requirements, or similarly compliance-driven packaging environments. Understanding of sustainability considerations in packaging production. Experience with packaging workflow tools, digital asset management systems, or asset libraries. #J-18808-Ljbffr
