Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN General)

Administers nursing care within the scope of practice under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed healthcare provider. Administers oxygen, applies sterile dressings, inserts catheters, and reinserts gastrostomy tubes. Suctions and irrigates wounds, gives enemas and douches, and collects specimens. Performs dialysis treatments, operates hemodialysis equipment, and monitors patients during procedures. Assists healthcare providers with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests. Provides emergency assistance, including administering first aid and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Administers controlled and non-controlled medications in various forms and provides medication instructions to patients. Maintains medication accountability records, documents and reports patient conditions, and prepares related reports. Provides general nursing care, including taking vital signs and assisting with personal grooming and hygiene. Repositions patients and responds to patient alarms, making medical appointments and assisting with recreational activities. Provides one-on-one care according to intervention stated in the treatment plan. Orders medication and supplies, cleans the nursing station, and performs clerical tasks as needed. Attends and participates in staff meetings and training programs as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of skilled nursing procedures, pharmacology, first aid, CPR, and general hospital practices. Skilled in the use of medical equipment and maintaining patient care standards.
