Air Reserve Technician Crew Chief

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) and the aircraft dedicated crew chief performing such duties as being technical authority, having custody of an assigned aircraft, with primary responsibility for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the maintenance and periodic inspections to the assigned aircraft.

Duties:

1. Serves as crew chief of assigned aircraft, responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing maintenance, positioning, troubleshooting and servicing on the aircraft. Responsible for the total airworthiness of the assigned aircraft.
2. Performs aircraft inspections including preflight, postflight, phase, acceptance and other scheduled and unscheduled inspections. Tests and checks, or oversees such actions by others, with test equipment and standards.
3. Positions, maintains, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components. Efficiently completes major overhaul to routine maintenance, positioning and servicing of aircraft.
4. Diagnoses and identifies probable locations of malfunctions from the cockpit during engine run-up. Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program.
5. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.
