Material Handling Specialist

General Summary:With minimal supervision, receives in product, prepares parts for shipment, and processes shipping documents and customer orders. Principal Duties And Responsibilities Receives material, and places into inventory using proper material handling equipment. Packages accessories and related parts for shipment. Participates in daily cycle count either by actual count which requires personal accuracy of 99% or by processing counts through the inventory system. Issues stock for Bills of Material. Collects and stages parts requested. Transports inventory to Manufacturing areas utilizing proper material handling equipment. Makes decision as to method of shipment of service parts based on size, weight, time, special customer requirements, and according to established procedures. Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas. Removes chips from collection sites and deposits into designated bins. Loads and unloads delivery trucks. Inspects incoming raw stock to verify compliance with purchase order. Maintains location files electronically through IFS (Instron business operating system) Responsible for integrity of the contents and markings of all shipping containers May be required to perform other department duties when necessary. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. 1-5 years in a shipping, receiving, material handling role preferred. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, without direct supervision or written instruction. Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to learn. Positive attitude and focus on working safely at all times. Solid computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office tools Ability to operate power pallet truck arid forklift and power crane. Physical stamina for standing and walking up to 50% of the time. Must be able to lift an average of 35 pounds 50% of the work time with occasional need to lift more, using assistance to lift over 50 pounds. Working Conditions Normal machine shop environment with moderated temperature changes, medium to high noise levels and the hazards associated with a machine shop, such as rotating, cutting tools and work pieces, flying chips, coolant fumes and handling parts with burrs and sharp edges. Such hazards require strict adherence to safety guidelines and use of protective devices such as safety glasses and safety shoes. Reporting Relationship Reports to Production Manager, Binghamton Compensation Information This position has a starting hourly range of $22.30 to $26.25/hr.
