Orthotist

Job Duties

Receives prescriptions from physicians for all types of orthotic braces and appliances ranging from simple arm and hand braces.

Fabricates, modifies, and repairs other appliances such as arch supports, ankle braces, plaster of paris casts, back braces, assistive devices for polio patients, corsets and others.

Uses various machines, tools and equipment, such as drill press, band saw, metal grinders, leather cutters, sewing machines, and hand tools, to perform functions.

Fit, fabricate, design, modify and repair orthotic braces and appliances prescribed by physicians.

Assists in requisitioning, storage and issue of supplies.
