About the Position

Job Title: Nurse Lead Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Nurse Lead Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 5 years in a similar role License: Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire, Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) required, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) required Must-Have: Supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills required Description: Provides unit-based leadership collaborating with management, physicians, and staff. Supervises and directs the activities of nursing and ancillary personnel using professional discretion and judgment. Ensures that patients receive cost-effective, professional care resulting in positive outcomes and high patient satisfaction while maintaining patient safety. Assesses and takes steps to improve the quality of patient experience. Fosters an environment of patient and family-centered care, paying special attention to individual needs. Initiates and coordinates conferences with health team members, patients, and families to revise care plans for optimal care. Directs and monitors personnel in patient care activities to ensure quality and adequacy. Participates in patient care as required. Makes rounds to understand patient care needs and introduce self to patients and families. Solicits feedback on nursing services and any concerns. Develops strategies with management to improve customer satisfaction for patients, families, and physicians. Investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues. Recommends policy or procedure changes based on established standards in collaboration with management. Ensures compliance with safety goals and standards through effective unit management. Works closely with clinical team members for staff development activities to meet patient and family needs. Assesses department operations and patient care processes for improvement opportunities. Facilitates data collection by staff and participates in quality improvement activities. Assesses staffing requirements based on patient acuity and needs. Manages assigned personnel according to skill levels, patient needs, and workload. Arranges staff relief for meals and breaks. Reviews requests for schedule adjustments. Evaluates unit employee performance and provides guidance or disciplinary action as needed. Instructs new personnel on job duties and assignments. Ensures department and equipment are maintained in a safe and operational state. Documents unit activities, incidents, and needs in a timely manner. Maintains staffing costs within targeted budget. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
