Job Opportunity

Job Summary

This position is responsible for administering Respiratory Therapy services, including the evaluation and treatment of patients. Services will be delivered in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner to inpatients, outpatients, staff, employees, and community groups as required.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed by management.
• Perform aerosol therapy treatments.
• Conduct CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy for secretion mobilization.
• Administer incentive spirometry therapy.
• Perform M.D.I. therapy and suctioning procedures.
• Execute extubation procedures safely.
• Oversee oxygen tank safety and therapy on all approved devices.
• Manage BiPAP and CPAP therapy, including alarm management.
• Provide cough assist and vest therapy.
• Administer high flow cannula and humidifier therapy, including alarm management.
• Perform pulmonary function screening and fit testing in coordination with Employee Health.
• Conduct pulse oximetry and EKG procedures for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Administer adult, pediatric, and neonatal BLS life support as needed.
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Carry out arterial puncture and analysis for the blood gas laboratory.
• Perform quality control for the blood gas laboratory.
• Utilize healthcare information systems and medication administration programs effectively.
• Verify physician orders and document all procedure results accurately.
• Maintain compliance with departmental delivery standards.
• Manage departmental files and bookkeeping records according to policy.
• Participate in departmental in-service programs.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• One (1) year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist is preferred.

Required Education

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ACLS certifications from an approved provider.

Schedule Notes

This role requires night shifts and every other weekend, totaling 36 hours per week for a 13-week assignment. Critical care and NICU experience is necessary. Familiarity with V60 BiPAP, 980 Puritan Bennett Ventilators, and EPIC is expected. Candidates should be able to participate in external patient transports.
