Medical City Dallas – Registered Nurse – Emergency Room – Night Shift As an RN Emergency Room - Night shift, you influence patient care through collaborative relationships and formal opportunities within hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the specific requirements of the department and consistent with scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s); documents administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Responds promptly to patient requests; anticipates patient needs and resolves them proactively. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about the patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures; translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and other lifestyle changes; prepares patients and families for future self-management. Qualifications PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support required within 90 days of employment start date. Trauma Nursing Core Course required within 1 year of employment start date. Registered Nurse (RN) license. Associate Degree in Nursing. Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS Instructor required within 90 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support or BCLS Instructor required within 30 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Satori Alternatives Management of Aggression required within 1 year of employment start date.
