Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Cardiac Renal Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity 41-bed Cardiac Renal / MS-Tele unit managing conditions including Afib with RVR, flutter, heart blocks, CHF, COPD, sepsis, post-ablation, and dialysis patients
• Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation ; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency testing
• Initiate and titrate drips including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, aminophylline, Cardizem, Tikosyn, and Amiodarone
• Manage chest tubes, indwelling drains, nephrostomy tubes, CBI, and PIV insertion
• Float within skillset to alternate campus locations with a minimum of 2 hours notice given for cross-campus float; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Current, active RN compact license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of strong Cardiac/Telemetry RN experience required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required; Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must not live within 40 miles of the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with high-acuity cardiac patient populations including heart cath (without intervention), BH/CIWA, and dialysis patients
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and adaptability skills with the ability to manage change effectively
• Experience with antidysrhythmic medication management and drip titration in a fast-paced environment
