Optical Test Engineer

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Optical Test & Validation Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for validating and characterizing high-speed optical products, developing automated test solutions, troubleshooting complex system issues, and ensuring products meet performance, reliability, and quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline. 2-5+ years of experience in optical test, validation, qualification, or product engineering. Strong understanding of fiber optic communication systems and optical transceiver technologies. Proficiency in Python for test automation, instrument control, and data analysis. Experience working with optical test and measurement equipment such as optical power meters, oscilloscopes, BER testers, optical spectrum analyzers, and traffic generators. Hands‑on experience with high-speed optical modules, including 400G, 800G, or next‑generation optical networking technologies. Knowledge of Ethernet networking fundamentals, Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols, and traffic generation tools. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex hardware and system‑level issues. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical findings to both engineering and leadership teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with reliability testing, environmental qualification, and thermal characterization. Familiarity with optical module standards and industry compliance requirements. Experience supporting manufacturing test, product qualification, or production ramp activities.
