MEP Manager I Location Orlando, FL Job Purpose The purpose of this job is to assist in the overall direction and control of the installation of all electrical, plumbing, mechanical, sheet metal, insulation, sprinkler systems, and life safety systems within Austin Commercial projects. Functional Areas of Responsibility MEP trade coordination / space management / constructability studies Certificate of occupancy management & review of subcontractor submittals Compliance with building codes Relations with city inspectors Review of subcontractor proposed change pricing Specific Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate the complexity of the mechanical/electrical design, estimate construction costs and maintenance, and ensure constructability of the design in compliance with local building codes. Serve as a technical resource in meetings with owners and architects, explaining anticipated difficulties with the plans. Attend weekly meetings with owners, architects, and subcontractors to outline work, phasing, scheduling issues, and quality concerns. Ensure timely submission and completeness of shop drawings by subcontractors. Coordinate the full MEP scope using CAD or overlay systems to prevent space issues. Screen and verify mechanical and plumbing shop drawings, dimensions, and installations; perform QA/QC of mechanical systems. Verify electrical shop drawings for slab rough‑ins, switchgear layout, riser diagrams, emergency generator placement, and conduct detailed inspections. Manage fire sprinkler system coordination with city fire department inspectors, reviewing shop drawings and ensuring code compliance. Inspect and coordinate life safety systems, smoke evacuation systems, pressurized building portions, fire control centers, building and elevator communication systems, and fire extinguishers. Revise and confirm proposed changes for cost and schedule impact, resolving technical problems with architects. Review subcontractor pay requests and resolve payment issues. Act as liaison between owners, architects, general contractors, and all associated disciplines. Requirements B.S. in construction management, construction science, engineering, or related field. 5–8 years of comparable MEP experience, preferably with a general contractor or mechanical contractor. Completion of OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may be obtained within the first year). Proficiency in project management software. Proficiency in cost projection, scheduling, financial analysis, budget reviews, and labor reports. Ability to build and manage a high‑performing team.
