Chef de Cuisine

Major Food Group is hiring an experienced Chef de Cuisine to join the team at Contessa!Contessa is the crown jewel of dining atop one of Boston’s most glamorous hotels, The Newbury Boston. Delightfully re-imagined, this rooftop destination is inspired by the old-world resorts of Europe and the lasting estates of Italy where classic grand trattoria cuisine awaits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sourcing ordering and receiving the highest quality ingredients
• Developing, teaching, and maintaining all recipes and techniques
• Organizing a large team and holding each chef accountable for their responsibilities
• Overseeing and maintaining a smooth professional service
• Maintaining all kitchen equipment and following up for any repairs needed
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization
• Overseeing scheduling and inventory to work within a set budget
• Evaluate team performance and implement continuous improvements in kitchen efficiency and profitability.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a managing capacity
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality-driven, high volume kitchen
• Culinary diploma or equivalent in experience strongly preferred
• Experience with food cost control, labor management, purchasing, and inventory system
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation procedures, and allergen management
• Proven ability to lead a culinary team in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality environment
• Team-orientated and positive attitude
• Strong communication skills a must

Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 annually based on experience.
