Job Position - Dental Hygienist: Part time Bilingual

(Position Description - part time, hourly position, non-exempt, and at-will)

Location: Crossings Community Clinic Midtown

General Scope of Position:

The Dental Hygienist at the Crossings Community Clinic (CCC or Clinic) Mid-Town location will provide hands-on patient care to a diverse population, treating the whole person, not just the mouth.

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to Crossings Community Clinic Dental Director. The Dental Hygienist will supervise on-site volunteer dental assistants, students who are shadowing, and will work collaboratively and interact regularly with various vendors, CCC staff and volunteers across the various departments and ministries, and locations, as well with partners of the Clinic to accomplish the goals and mission of the Clinic.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Treat every patient as an honored guest
• Provide hands-on patient care as scheduled, including:
  • Periodontal charting
  • Non-surgical periodontal therapy, periodontal maintenance, dental prophylaxis
  • Fluoride placement including silver diamine fluoride
  • Oral hygiene and nutrition instructions and motivational interviewing
• Maintain excellent clinical records, including coding to track progress toward clinic goals
• Maintain equipment and instruments in excellent condition; infection control procedures
• Guide dental volunteers, including hygienists and students, to deliver consistent standards of care, assuring best practices for patient health
• Integrate dental care with medical care, treating the whole person (not just the mouth)
• Assist in maintaining the highest possible clinic standards and professional ethics in accordance with the goals, Purpose Statement, and Core Values of Crossings Community Clinic.
• Support the leadership of CCC, contributing to the spirit of unity among the staff and patients.
• Represent the Clinic in civic and clinic-related efforts as approved.
• Complete any other duties or tasks to accomplish responsibilities associated with this position or as may be needed or assigned to fulfill the needs, mission and goals of the Clinic.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required

• Working knowledge of EagleSoft preferred

• Possess a current unrestricted driver's license
  • Ability to travel between locations as needed or requested

Education and Experience:

• Current Oklahoma Dental Hygiene license
• Experience in non-profit, clinic or community clinic preferred
• Sustain "good standing" membership within a like-minded Christian Faith Community
• Maintain a vibrant relationship with Christ through prayer, Bible study, regular worship attendance and Christian fellowship

Physical & Other Requirements for Position

• Be able to walk a long distance (up to a quarter of a mile); and be able to lift and carry 25-35 lbs. parcels for distances of up to 500 feet.
• Able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
