Validation Specialist – Job Description Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company, is hiring a Validation Specialist in Palo Alto, California. The role focuses on ensuring that clinical products meet safety, efficacy, and usability requirements before release. Location Palo Alto, California – On-site (remote/hybrid allowance not sufficient; applicant must be located in the Palo Alto region or willing to relocate). Responsibilities Ensure complete validation of Varian products to guarantee safety, effectiveness, and compliance with intended use requirements. Evaluate and discuss clinical practices, treatment techniques, and process optimizations with Product Management, User Experience, and Design Engineering teams to define new product requirements. Provide continuous feedback and implement improvements to the design, development, and modification of radiation and oncology products and systems. Support development and maintenance of Varian products, including Oncology Information Systems, Treatment Planning Management Systems, and Treatment Delivery and Imaging Systems. Define strategy for assuring thorough design validation of new products to demonstrate that they meet design and intended use requirements. Develop, modify, and execute design validation plans to meet product and system requirements. Participate in requirements analysis, use case development, and risk hazard analysis. Analyze and write test designs and procedures; establish traceability to requirements and risk mitigations. Consult with Product Verification Engineers, Product Marketing, User Experience, and Project Management to resolve usability, requirements, software, and scope problems. Work as part of a global development team; travel globally 5‑25% to support validation efforts. Qualifications Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist plus five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience. Alternatively, a degree (B.A., B.S., or foreign equivalent) plus five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist or Clinical Applications Specialist using Varian products. Thorough understanding of simulation, imaging, and treatment delivery clinical workflow scenarios in a radiation therapy center. Proficiency with treatment delivery techniques (IMRT, VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS, SBRT), and radiation safety practices. Preferably: current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist and experience as a Medical Dosimetrist. Proficient use of Varian products such as ARIA Radiation Therapy Management software and linear accelerators (C-Series, TrueBeam, Halcyon). Experience with motion‑management technologies (Varian RPM, RGSC, optical surface tracking) and basic knowledge of the ARIA Oncology Information System and Eclipse Treatment Planning System.
