We are searching for a Bank Teller to provide onsite support for a local bank. This position is onsite, contract-to-hire, and pays $19 to $21 per hour. You will serve retail and commercial customers, handling deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments while referring customers to the right team members for additional services. The role reports to the Branch Manager and has no supervisory duties.

 

Responsibilities

• Process retail and commercial checking and savings deposits, verifying that documents are complete and issuing receipts
• Cash checks and process savings withdrawals, confirming proper authorization and limits, and use sound judgment on questionable items
• Operate the teller terminal to process account activity, check balances, and resolve issues within your authority
• Accept and process loan and installment payments
• Issue official checks and process stop-payment and hold orders
• Balance the cash drawer daily and verify cash returned to the vault
• Handle night depository duties: log bags, process deposits, issue receipts, and return bags to customers
• Process change orders and assist with opening, closing, and balancing the vault currency and coin
• Control access to safe deposit boxes and assist customers with them
• Prepare wire transfers and process routine reports and corrections, such as currency transactions, returned items, overdrafts, ATM deposits, and deposit slip corrections
• Resolve customer questions and problems, and answer phones and direct callers to the right person
• Identify customer needs and refer customers to appropriate staff for other bank products and services
• Serve as backup courier as needed
• Maintain files, prepare routine letters, reports, and forms, and order and distribute supplies

 

Responsibilities

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (business or finance coursework preferred)
• At least 1 year of cash handling and/or customer service experience
• Working knowledge of branch operations, banking terminology, and bank products and services
• Basic knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations
• Strong basic math skills: count currency, coin, and negotiable instruments accurately, balance accounts, calculate interest, and catch routine errors
• Clear verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with computer terminals, PCs, word processing, and spreadsheet software, plus basic typing skills
• Ability to handle routine problems, multiple concurrent tasks, constant interruptions, and stress, with good organization and time management
• Ability to work with general supervision
• Ability to sit for extended periods, operate a computer and telephone, and lift up to 50 pounds
