Wise Path Recovery Centers is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and hands-on Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor to lead our Behavioral Health Technician and Recovery Support team in Williamson, West Virginia.
This is a working supervisor role for someone who enjoys developing people while staying connected to the day-to-day work of patient care.
The BHT Supervisor is responsible for ensuring our recovery support team provides safe, consistent, trauma-informed care while maintaining appropriate staffing, accountability, program structure, and professional standards. This leader will supervise and develop team members while also stepping into direct patient care when needed to support the facility and maintain continuity of care.

What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop the BHT Team
- Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, coaching, and support to Behavioral Health Technicians and Recovery Support staff.
- Complete required staff supervision and contribute to annual performance evaluations.
- Hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, documentation, professional conduct, and patient care expectations.
- Develop and maintain the BHT staffing schedule and ensure appropriate coverage based on facility and patient needs.
- Work proactively to resolve staffing gaps and ensure safe coverage across shifts.
- Lead orientation and onboarding for new BHT team members and ensure required training and competencies are completed within established timelines.
- Provide ongoing education, coaching, in-service training, and skill development for the team.
- Identify performance or training gaps and partner with leadership to develop appropriate coaching or corrective action plans.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and consistent communication across shifts.
- Model the culture and patient-care standards expected from the BHT team.
Support Safe & Consistent Patient Care
- Ensure patients receive safe, compassionate, respectful, and trauma-informed support.
- Ensure facility programming, daily schedules, groups, and structured activities are consistently followed.
- Monitor staff adherence to organizational policies, patient safety requirements, professional boundaries, and therapeutic best practices.
- Collaborate closely with clinical, nursing, medical, admissions, and facility leadership to support coordinated patient care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary communication regarding patient needs, behavioral concerns, safety issues, and barriers to treatment.
- Identify and escalate patient safety or operational concerns appropriately.
Provide Direct Patient Support
As a working supervisor, this position will also perform BHT responsibilities as needed, including:
- Conducting comprehensive patient orientations and reviewing program expectations, routines, available services, and facility guidelines.
- Facilitating psychoeducational, recovery-focused, and life-skills groups within the scope of the position.
- Supporting patient intake and admission processes.
- Assisting with urine drug screening and other assigned patient-support processes in accordance with policy and training.
- Providing patient transportation when necessary and authorized.
- Supporting recreational and recovery-oriented programming.
- Monitoring patient behavior and responding appropriately to behavioral concerns.
- Using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques during challenging or crisis situations.
- Supporting safe patient routines including meals, housekeeping expectations, scheduled programming, and medication-line flow.
- Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with patients at all times.
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, behavioral concerns, incidents, shift activities, and other required information.
- Review staff documentation for completeness and compliance when appropriate.
- Ensure incident reporting and escalation procedures are followed.
- Support organizational quality improvement, safety, compliance, and accreditation initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Wise Path policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist leadership with identifying trends, operational concerns, and opportunities to improve the patient and employee experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required
- Experience working in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, recovery services, healthcare, human services, or a related environment.
- Previous experience training, mentoring, onboarding, or providing leadership to team members.
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction, coaching, and accountability within a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to appropriately respond to behavioral concerns and maintain composure during challenging situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical, medical, nursing, and operational teams.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with patients.
- Ability to complete timely and accurate documentation.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must meet applicable West Virginia and organizational requirements to transport patients.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.
Preferred
- Two or more years of experience in substance use disorder, behavioral health, residential treatment, recovery support, or a related healthcare environment.
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience.
- Experience working within a residential substance use disorder treatment program.
- Experience with crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, motivational interviewing, or trauma-informed care.
- Peer recovery or substance use disorder credentialing, where applicable.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed primarily within a residential behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment environment.
- Regular interaction with individuals experiencing substance withdrawal, behavioral health symptoms, emotional distress, or crisis situations should be expected.
- Role requires regular movement throughout the facility and active engagement with patients and staff.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Adequate vision and hearing to monitor the environment, observe patient needs, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to concentrate, problem-solve, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Must maintain professionalism, empathy, emotional regulation, and sound judgment during stressful or high-acuity situations.
- May require evenings, weekends, holidays, or schedule adjustments based on facility staffing and patient-care needs.
