Senior Research Scientist, Survey Methods, Amazonian Leadership Experience

The Amazon Experience and Technology (AET) team provides technology and services that Amazon’s entire global workforce, over 1M people and counting, relies on every day. As a survey scientist you will you will design and carry out surveys to address business questions; analyze survey and other forms of data with regression models; perform weighting and multiple imputation to reduce bias due to nonresponse. You will conduct methodological and statistical research to understand the quality of survey data. You will work with economists, engineers, and computer scientists to select samples, draft and test survey questions, calculate nonresponse adjusted weights, and estimate regression models on large scale data. You will evaluate, diagnose, understand, and surface drivers and moderators for key research streams, including (but are not limited to) attrition, engagement, productivity, inclusion, and Amazon culture.Key job responsibilities* Design a scalable global content development and validation strategy to drive more effective decisions and improve the employee experience across all of Amazon* Conduct psychometric and econometric analyses to evaluate integrity and practical application of survey questions and data* Identify research streams to evaluate how to mitigate or remove sources of measurement error* Drive effective collaborations across multi-disciplinary research and product teams* Manage full life cycle of large-scale research programs (Develop strategy, gather requirements, manage and execute)Basic qualifications- 3+ years of investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products experience- PhD, or Master's degree and 5+ years of quantitative field research experience- Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive etc.- Experience communicating qualitative research methods and findings to non-qualitative researchersPreferred qualification - Experience converting research studies into tangible real-world changes- Experience working with big data, machine learning and predictive modeling- 5+ years of applied research experience- Experience leading projects across multiple stakeholders- Experience with the full range of research methods: qualitative and quantitative, attitudinal and behavioral, with deep expertise in one or more areas- 5+ years of advising and influencing leadership experience- Experience in survey design and datasets- Experience conducting statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and fitting ML predictive models using large administrative and survey databases- Experience developing and validating survey measures or assessments- Advanced Statistics (longitudinal data analysis, factor analysis, IRT, causal analysis, HLM, cluster analysis or SEM/Path Analysis)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
