Universal Industries, Inc. is looking for an experienced press brake operator to work in our fast paced sheet metal manufacturing environment. Experience in the set-up and operation of newer Amada or Bystronic brake presses, forming a variety of materials, including, but not limited to, mild steel, stainless steel and galvanized steel in varying thicknesses a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Qualified candidate will under minimal supervision, set up all types of precision sheet metal equipment and perform highly repetitive types of machine operations associated with quality production turning raw material into completed product.
- Starts, stops, feeds and operates equipment.
- Setup and operate CNC lasers and brake presses in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must be able to read a tape measure, micrometers, calipers, protractors, interpret tolerances and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
- Knowledge of bend allowances and how to achieve them.
- Knowledge of brake press tooling.
- Ability to read blueprints, thorough understanding of flat pattern layout and geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part.
- Reads shop order to determine quantity of parts to run, parts per hour, and any special instructions for the job.
- Consistently meets or exceeds production run rates
- Measures product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and performs quality inspection of finished product per shop order.
- Sets stops on machine bed and reposition stops to run successive pieces, or to perform multiple operations.
- Checks laser gases and makes sure they are all at desired pressures.
- Checks nozzle and nozzle alignment.
- Laser lens calibration and daily cleaning.
- Gets raw material needed to run jobs using forklift.
- Does first part inspection to confirm finished part conforms to specifications on drawing.
- All additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Brake Press Experience
- Experience on Amada or similar CNC laser cutting machines
- Experience with Dr. Abe Bend software
- Reading blueprints
Offer contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
