Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification via AHA required ACLS certification via AHA required PALS certification via AHA required De-Escalation certification required Must-Have: Ability to manage complex cases including strokes, cardiovascular, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis. Description: This position involves working in a very high acuity unit. Contractors will see a heavy load of strokes, cardiovascular cases, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis cases. Some trauma cases may be encountered, although this is not a trauma-designated unit. Security is onsite 24/7. The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care while being able to plan for long-range goals. Continuously develops the ability to cope with and manage contingencies in clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation. Responsibilities include meeting expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, nursing care is provided utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
