Leading the legal strategy for crucial payments partnerships, the full-time Commercial Counsel - Active License will manage the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial agreements, collaborating cross-functionally to accelerate Coinbase's growth in a remote-first environment. Key responsibilities Draft, negotiate, and execute tailored commercial agreements with strategic partners in the payments and fintech sectors Deliver practical legal advice that balances risk with business needs while driving novel agreement frameworks Build scalable commercial playbooks and risk-mitigation strategies to enhance deal timelines and business flexibility Required qualifications 5+ years of transactional legal experience with a JD (or equivalent) and an active license in a U.S. state Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex agreements with fintechs, banks, and payment networks Ability to navigate regulated financial services environments and provide actionable commercial guidance Experience managing a high-volume deal pipeline with precision in drafting and risk assessment Familiarity with utilizing generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency and quality
