Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 23, 2026
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710–$1,800
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts
• Shift Hours: 6:45 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a valid compact RN license
• At least 2 years of recent experience in a PCU, IMC, cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or stepdown nursing setting
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Successful completion of a cardiac rhythm interpretation examination with a minimum score of 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Demonstrated experience caring for patients with cardiac monitoring needs, dysrhythmias, renal failure, sepsis, COPD/asthma, diabetes, pneumothorax, and post-surgical conditions
• Clinical competency with telemetry monitoring, central line care, chest tubes, oxygen therapies, IV management, PCA infusions, and non-titratable cardiac drips
• Two supervisory references, including one from the most recent assignment
• Ability to float to telemetry and medical-surgical units as needed

Cardiac Stepdown Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients in a cardiac stepdown, IMC, and progressive care setting.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, perform ongoing telemetry assessment, and promptly recognize changes in patient condition.
• Manage patients requiring bedside cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, IV infusions, and non-titratable cardiac drips.
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes, feeding tubes, central lines, peripheral IVs, PCA infusions, renal failure, and dialysis needs.
• Administer medications and follow heparin, IV insulin, and other applicable clinical protocols.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Float to telemetry and medical-surgical units when required while maintaining safe, evidence-based patient care.
• Support a typical IMC patient assignment of approximately 1:4 and adapt to operational staffing needs.
• Participate in required weekend coverage and unit orientation activities.
