Role Description The After School Instructor is a part-time, on-site role based at Kipp Summit Academy in San Lorenzo, CA. This position is responsible for leading after-school instructional and enrichment activities, including homework help, academic support, and structured programs in areas such as arts, STEM, or physical activities. The instructor supervises students to ensure a safe and positive environment, manages classroom routines, and implements school policies and behavior expectations. Daily tasks include preparing lesson plans or activity outlines, tracking student attendance and participation, and communicating with families and school staff about student progress and needs. The role also involves collaborating with other educators to align after-school programming with daytime learning goals and supporting special events or projects as needed. Qualifications Experience working with school-age children in educational, youth development, or enrichment settings, with strong classroom management and supervision skills. Ability to design and facilitate engaging academic and enrichment activities that support students’ learning, social-emotional development, and creativity. Clear, respectful communication skills for interacting with students, families, and colleagues, and the ability to provide constructive feedback and support. Strong organizational and time-management skills, including maintaining schedules, attendance records, and materials for daily programs. Commitment to educational equity, culturally responsive practices, and creating an inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work on-site during after-school hours, collaborate within a team, and adapt to changing student needs and program priorities. Prior experience in a school, camp, or youth program is preferred; coursework or a degree in education, child development, or a related field is an advantage. Basic proficiency with technology for communication, recordkeeping, and accessing instructional resources; ability to learn school systems and tools as needed.
