Role Description The Line Cook is a full-time, on-site role based at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, NJ. This role is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to standardized recipes, plating dishes consistently, and maintaining high food quality and presentation standards. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and breaking down stations, following food safety and sanitation procedures, assisting with prep work, and supporting other kitchen staff during service. The Line Cook collaborates closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure timely service for à la carte dining, banquets, and special events. This role may also involve contributing to menu specials, managing inventory at the station, and helping keep the kitchen organized and clean. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to prepare, cook, and plate a variety of hot and cold menu items in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment. Knowledge of basic culinary techniques, knife skills, and proper use and care of kitchen equipment. Understanding of food safety standards, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices (ServSafe or similar certification preferred). Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tickets and work effectively during peak service times. Team-oriented mindset, with clear communication skills and a willingness to support other kitchen staff and follow direction from the Chef. Reliability and flexibility regarding scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in restaurants, hotels, clubs, or catering operations is highly beneficial. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work safely in a high-heat, fast-moving environment.
