We are looking for a passionate, flexible, and motivated Medical Assistant, fluent in English and Spanish to join our team!
As a float Medical Assistant, you will have an important role in supporting and collaborating with all care teams at both of our sites. You will build a trusting relationship with patients to ensure they receive exceptional care within Winters Healthcare. You will help monitor and manage the provider's patient schedule to ensure a smooth flow from the patient to patient. You will greet patients, record the patient's reason for the visit, perform and record vital signs, perform phlebotomy and provide immunizations to patients of all ages as directed by the medical provider. You will also follow up on labs, referrals, and prescription refill requests in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate is a quick learner, organized, bilingual in English and Spanish, and has a significant background providing excellent customer service! Responsibilities :
- Communicate, collaborate, and work in a team-oriented environment supporting our model of care
- Greet and escort patients; record chief complaints and vitals; provide immunizations, perform blood draws when directed to do so by the licensed care team provider.
- Assist providers with patient care including coordinating referrals, labs, and prescription refill requests.
Qualifications :
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (required).
- Graduation from an accredited medical assistant training program, or technical school;
- Knowledge of medical assisting practices, including vital signs, immunizations, and phlebotomy.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, patient-centered care environment.
- Proactive thinking, ability to adapt to working with several teams, and maintain exceptional customer service.
- Proficiency with computers, standard office equipment, and Electronic Health Records (OCHIN Epic preferred)
- Commitment to outstanding customer service and high-quality patient care.
- Emotional intelligence and sound judgment in handling sensitive situations.
Working Hours :
- This position is 40 hours per week for 8 weeks for our Foundational Onboarding period. Following completion of the 8 weeks, (or 320 hours, whichever comes later), employee will be eligible for our 4 Day Work Week pilot to be employed at 32 hours per week*
- A minimum of one evening per week (11 am 8 pm) is required. Additional and/or occasional evenings may be required as business needs dictate.
Foundational Onboarding Period All newly hired employees are expected to complete an 8-week (320-hour) Foundational Onboarding Period at 40 hours per week. This period is designed to support training, integration, and success in the role.
- During onboarding, employees are paid at their standard hourly rate for 40 hours worked.
- Upon successful completion of the onboarding period, employees transition to the 32-hour workweek and receive compensation equivalent to 40 hours per week, in alignment with the 4DWW pilot structure.
Compensation and Benefits:
As of July 1, 2025 Winters Healthcare is operating under a 4 Day Work Week, with compensation and benefits as follows:
- Starting Hourly Rate: Starting wage banding is $21.00 - $26.25/ hour. After 8 week Foundational Onboarding Period*, wage banding increases to: $26.25 - $32.81/ hour plus full health insurance benefits*
- Covered insurances include medical, dental, vision, supplemental long-term disability, life insurance/ AD&D, and employee assistance program all 95% sponsored for employee, and 70% sponsored for dependents.
- Paid time off : 45 Wellness days per equivalent year, 9 paid Holidays off, additional 2 weeks of PTO (based on years of service, hours worked, and 4DWW hours). (~58+ days off)
- 401K retirement match at 3%, and a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
- We provide a $350 scrub allowance upon hire, and $200 scrubs allowance each year after the first.
