Perinatal Sonographer (Full Time) - Jefferson Health Abington

Job Summary Performs ultrasound and diagnostic procedures on high‑risk obstetric patients while adhering to all organizational and unit‑based policies and procedures and meeting patient scheduling in a timely manner. Competent to provide care for a patient population from adolescents to adults. Essential Functions Interacts with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff in a professional manner. Performs ultrasound examinations of prenatal patients following the protocol established by the Medical Director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine department and national guidelines. Accomplishes level1 and2 ultrasound examinations, doppler flow studies, transvaginal ultrasound examinations, and assists physicians with invasive uterine procedures (amniocentesis, CVS). Maintains a sterile field during procedures and reviews images, participating in reading sessions. Performs additional images when needed and accepts add‑on and emergency patients responsibly. Maintains records and documents including patient data, reports, follow‑up schedules, and entry of data into the reporting system. Educates obstetrical residents in basic ultrasound and ensures consistent and optimal function of equipment. Attends mandatory hospital and/or sonographic in‑services, maintaining current knowledge of specialty through continuing education. Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies Annual Trophon EPR high‑level disinfection competency training. Education and Experience Graduate of an AIUM‑approved ultrasound program. 1+ years’ perinatal/obstetrical ultrasound experience; amniocentesis and CVS experience preferred. Previous experience working in an antenatal testing center setting a plus. Certifications and Licensure Current RDMS with an OB/GYN specialty or eligible (must obtain the OB/GYN specialty within 6 months of hire and maintain certification thereafter). NT and cervical length certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain). Fetal echo certification preferred (must obtain within 1 year of hire and maintain). Additional Information EMR experience preferred. Computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and professional interaction with multiple allied healthcare professionals.
