Accountant

Our client is an organization in the Fox Valley area looking for an Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with a strong accounting foundation, a positive and collaborative approach, and an eagerness to learn and grow. The Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Assist with day-to-day general accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation as part of the monthly close process.
• Complete account and balance sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies as needed.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other transactional accounting activities as needed.
• Assist with the preparation of financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Analyze account activity and help identify unusual items, trends, or variances.
• Provide documentation and support for internal and external audit requests.
• Collaborate with other accounting and business teams to resolve questions and obtain necessary information.
• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Learn company processes, systems, and operations to develop a broader understanding of the business.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency within the accounting function.
• Take on additional accounting responsibilities and project work as experience and knowledge grow.

The Accountant will possess the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred; relevant internship experience may be considered.
• Foundational understanding of general accounting principles.
• Exposure to journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger accounting, or month-end close preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort learning new accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to ask questions, learn, and take on new challenges.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to adapt as responsibilities evolve.
• Desire to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.
