Title Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist provides treatment programs which are educationally relevant, within the school setting which help develop or restore function and prevent further disability. Areas of evaluation and treatment include: fine and gross motor development, sensory motor function, ADL training, posture and mobility training. Knowledge of adaptive devices and orthopedic equipment is necessary.

Required Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy/License Qualifications from an accredited college/university.

• Current Occupational Therapy registration from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
• Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office.
• Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
• Desire to continue professional growth.

Physical Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching. Requires the physical ability to frequently move, lift, carry, pull or push up to 20lbs. Conditions Requires some travel. Occasionally requires work outdoors, although generally not in inclement weather. Work areas may vary and be noisy or crowded at times.

General Evaluate students upon request of the Director of Special Services or by request of the IEP team.

• Participate in the development of the student IEPs.
• Formulate appropriate IEP goals and benchmarks.
• Provide therapy programs according to student IEPs.
• Plan and implement a schedule for occupational therapy service.

Essential To participate as a team member in the development of student IEP goals Functions and benchmarks.

• To communicate with the physician, if indicated, to coordinate student occupational therapy programs.
• Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other concerning student needs.
• Order and maintain an appropriate inventory of materials and supplies.
• Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
• Monitor student progress, as required under IDEA regulations.
• Assist with the planning transitional programs for students and their families.
• Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
• Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.
• Participate in inservice training activities, organizations and seminars which enhance professional growth/maintains appropriate number of CEU's.
• Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services.
