Emergency Communications Supervisor

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is looking for an Emergency Communications Supervisor to oversee and supervise our Emergency Communications Operators. This is a hands-on supervisory role with assigned shifts. The position requires availability for shifts in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays, and flexibility to meet operational needs as necessary.

The Emergency Communications Supervisor will provide administrative and supervisory support to the Communications Center, train staff, and perform the duties of an Emergency Communications Operator, including dispatching law enforcement, fire, medical, and emergency services personnel and equipment.

Starting pay range for this position is $93,671.74 - $112,406.80 annually.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supervisors have mastery-level knowledge of all Emergency Communications Operator duties and serve in that capacity, as well as functioning as Communications Training Officers for trainees when necessary.
  • Exercise direct and indirect supervision of Emergency Communications Operators.
  • Provide administrative support to the Communications Manager by collaborating on schedules, policies, procedures, training, goals and objectives of the Communications Center.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population to include the public, staff, other criminal justice agency personnel, county government staff and volunteers.
  • Learn applicable Sheriff's Office policies and procedures pertaining to the dispatch of law enforcement, fire and medical for the county and user agencies.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible duties in a communications center required; experience working for a law enforcement agency preferred
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR, EMD, NCIC/CCIC certifications required

Supplemental Information

Schedule:

  • Full-time position with availability to work on shift schedule as required.
  • Weekend days may vary but will be required, including holidays.
  • Ability to carry a pager and be in an on-call status as backup and to cover vacations.

Other Information to Note:

An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. Successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result. The Sheriff's Office prohibits possession of marijuana by employees under any circumstances and expects employees to comply with federal law.
