Job Details Location: US-CA-Modesto Position Type: Regular Full-Time Job ID: 2026-11936 Responsibilities Set the tone for ensuring all operators are current with training requirements of the company and contract. Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies and practices are current and meet the needs of the operating divisions. Serve as the expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance and regulations. Verify that new hires meet minimum general qualifications for each division, including background and DMV checks. Utilize safety technology tools, analyze results and trend data, and develop plans to reduce and prevent safety incidents. Oversee corporate safety incentives and programs, including assignment of Safety Points. Foster a consistent safety culture across locations, integrating operations, safety and maintenance departments with a team-based approach. Collaborate with corporate claims staff to promptly handle liability and workers’ compensation claims, reduce financial liability, and recoup on subrogatable claims. Proactively manage all employee injury claims to minimize lost time and light-duty claims; coordinate with local medical facilities to place injured employees on light duty and return to full duty promptly. Lead audits conducted by corporate, client staff, and state/federal regulatory agencies. Lead the division in safety training delivery, including classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction according to corporate and client specifications. Qualifications Transit safety experience. Experience working in transit, preferably urban public transport. Previous passenger transportation in current project or similar environment preferred. College degree or five or more years of safety management experience. CDS (Certified Director of Safety) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) designation preferred; certifications per local contract requirements. Knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations (FTA, FMCSA, DOT). Knowledge of corporate safety programs and policies. Ability to read, write and speak English; effective communication across departments. Ability to work independently and objectively; strong organizational skills. Ability to delegate tasks and supervise staff effectively; proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office; strong analytical skills.
