Job Title Specialist, Communication Essential Job Functions Advises and provides support on projects that are deemed sharedpriorities of the university and academic units that comprise thecommunications team. Advises administrators, faculty and staff on effectivecommunications and media relations Develops communications plans and creative briefs for majorinitiatives Works collaboratively with other units in the Office ofCommunications and Marketing on multi-media projects andinitiatives Other related duties, as assigned Qualifications Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in mass communications,journalism, or a related field Minimum Experience One (1) year professional experience in a clientfacing communications, public relations role, with emphasis onmedia relations and social media Experience writing for broadaudiences as well as those in higher education also is highlypreferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledgeable of a broad range of journalistic and multimediatools, including media software for news distribution andmonitoring Knowledgeable of professional guidelines for journalism and publicrelations Proficient in and adaptable to new technology, including productionmanagement and team collaboration software Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, andinterpersonal Excellent project management skills Skilled in researching topics Ability to make complex research and concepts accessible to variedaudiences Ability to successfully pitch and place news stories, regionallyand nationally Ability to create engaging content across all media Ability to meet tight deadlines Ability to maintain confidentiality #J-18808-Ljbffr Alcorn State University
