Actuarial InternQuartz is seeking a motivated Actuarial Intern to join our team from January through December 2027. This paid internship provides hands-on experience supporting real actuarial projects within the health insurance industry while working alongside experienced actuarial professionals.As an intern, you'll gain exposure to pricing, modeling, analytics, and business processes while developing the technical and professional skills needed to launch a successful actuarial career. Responsibilities may include:Assist with actuarial analyses, pricing initiatives, and forecasting projectsSupport the development and maintenance of actuarial modelsPerform competitive market analyses and research industry trendsAnalyze healthcare and insurance data to provide actionable insightsAssist with provider contract reviews and comparisons against market benchmarksIdentify opportunities to improve and automate existing processes and workflowsCollaborate with actuarial and cross-functional business teamsGain exposure to underwriting and other non-traditional actuarial functionsUtilize tools such as Microsoft Excel and SQL to support actuarial analyses and reportingYou'll also build knowledge of:Health insurance products and operationsRegulatory requirementsIndustry trends and competitive dynamicsProfessional communication and workplace best practicesTime management and project prioritizationQualifications:Demonstrate interest in pursuing an actuarial careerGraduate between December 2027 and May 2028Have passed at least 1 actuarial examBe available to participate in the internship for the full calendar year (January-December 2027), working 10-20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summerReside within a three-hour radius of Madison, Wisconsin during the summer months (June-August)Attend the summer intern program kickoff and retreat (June 1-4, 2027), and final intern presentation (Late July/Early August)Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring work visa sponsorship from Quartz, now or in the futureHardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.We offer an excellent benefit and compensation package, opportunity for career advancement and a professional culture built on the foundations of Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness and Relationships.
