POSITION SUMMARY
A heavy equipment operator drives or controls construction equipment, including bulldozers, forklifts, backhoes, dump trucks, and cargo trucks.

• Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
• Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment.
• Observing stipulated safety codes at all times.
• Communicating with coworkers to elucidate project specifications, as needed.
• Reporting injuries and other accidents to the line manager.
• Advising the construction manager of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements.
• Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.
• Providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

2-3 years of heavy equipment operation experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Work is subject to exposure to frequent travel, extreme weather conditions, noise, electrical shocks, hazardous chemicals, electrical currents, dust and noxious odors.
