Capital Market Analyst
Piper Maddox
About the company
Our client is a venture-backed distributed energy company that finances, owns and operates a growing portfolio of solar and battery assets. The company is well capitalized and scaling quickly.
The role
Our client is hiring a hybrid capital markets and FP&A professional who reports directly to the CFO and owns both the company's financial models and its lender- and investor-facing work product.
This is not a maintain-the-model seat. From day one you'll work on a live warehouse facility with a borrowing base certified to a lender, an ITC bridge facility, and ongoing capital raising. You'll sit next to the CFO on everything that matters, with real exposure to lenders, investors and the board; a seat you wouldn't get at this stage at a larger company.
What you'll do
Capital markets
- Prepare lender and investor materials, including draw requests, reporting packages and diligence responses.
- Support diligence on new financings and capital raises.
- Interface directly with existing and prospective lenders and investors at the analyst and associate level.
- Support ITC monetization through tax credit transfers, including basis step-up and insurance workstreams.
Modeling and FP&A
- Own the daily and weekly cash forecast, including liquidity forecasts that support covenant testing.
- Build and maintain project-level models and the borrowing base that supports draw requests under the warehouse facility.
- Reconcile models to source documents – borrowing base certificates, bank activity, project register – and keep every assumption traceable to evidence.
- Build models from a blank sheet that lenders, investors and the board can rely on and audit.
- Analyze unit economics by state and product, install pace and cost decisions, and program-level returns.
- Take questions from operators and come back with an answer and a recommendation, not just a tab.
What you bring
Must have
- Roughly 2–5 years of experience in project or structured finance, capital markets, tax equity, transaction advisory, or energy and infrastructure investment banking (2–4 years for bankers).
- A track record of building financial models from a blank sheet that a third party, such as a lender, board or investment committee, relied on.
- Working knowledge of borrowing bases, asset-backed facilities, and receivable eligibility.
- Experience preparing lender or investor materials and supporting diligence.
- The judgment to turn analysis into a recommendation for non-finance colleagues.
- Hands-on by preference: you want to be in the model every day. No direct reports at the outset.
Strongly preferred – we will teach the rest
- Exposure to tax equity and tax credit transfers under Section 6418, including recapture risk and tax credit insurance.
- Renewable energy experience strongly preferred, especially in distributed solar, storage, or residential solar/battery finance.
This role is not
- An accounting or controllership role.
- A fit for someone who has advised on transactions but never owned a live model.
- A people-management role.
What we offer
- A direct seat alongside the CFO, with real exposure to lenders, investors and the board.
- Ownership of models and materials that move real capital, at a company in its value creation phase.
- A fast-paced environment where the work comes in waves around draw dates, diligence and closings.
- A competitive compensation package
